Dog friendly Motorway Services

Westmorland Dog Walk

If you're travelling north or south around the Cumbria / Scotland border then a good place to take a dog friendly half hour break from driving is the privately owned Westmorland Services on the M6 close to junction 38.

The north and southbound Tebay Services at Westmorland have a dedicated dog walk area away from the traffic and car parks and they enjoy spectacular views over the surrounding fells and countryside - a great place for the whole family to get some fresh air and exercise!

Daffodil Walks With Dogs

I wandered lonely as… Daffodil Walks With Dogs
Spring flowers really cheer up the countryside (and us!) so when it’s a sunny day it’s great to get outside and enjoy those pretty wafting daffodils in all their wonderful yellowy-ness!
Labrador Meg inspects the 'bunch of daffodils' in the garden before heading off to find a better display in the woods!

The following are great dog friendly walks where you can delight in the daffodils:
Wales
Gwent, Wentwood Forest

South
Devon – Dunsford Wood
Sussex – West Deans Wood

North
North Yorkshire – Farndale
Cumbria – Grasmere

Midlands
Golden Triangle / Daffodil Way - in Gloucestershire & Herefordshire around the village of Newent and Dymock.

Paws In The Forest

Forests Are Great Place For Walkies

The Forestry Commission looks after forest all over the UK providing an excellent resource where people can explore and enjoy these great outside spaces with family, friends, children and, of course, dogs.

Most Forestry Commision sites welcome dogs (and their owners!) and in the majority of cases the dogs can enjoy a great off-lead walk, exploring and sniffing their way around various forest trails.

Plus 2 Dogs has received canine approval from our labradors Tobi & Meg for the following forests:

* Grizedale & Whinlatter in the Lake District
* Ravensheugh, Simonside Hills, near Rothbury, Northumberland
* Castle Hill, Thrunton Wood, near Rothbury, Northumberland
* Bignalls Wood, near Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire/ Derbyshire borders

Other top Forestry Commision picks include:
* Westonbirt Aboretum - very dog friendly
* Haldon Forest Park, Devon - ditto
* Coatham Woods Dog Activity Trail - extremely dog friendly with their very own activity trail
The Forestry Commision also organise various dog friendly events around the country, for more details, their top dog walks and great spots where hot dogs can cool off in the summer visit their website
