Dog Walking - National Trails

Dog walking ideas from Plus 2 Dogs

There are currently 15 National Trails in England and Wales, with 4 trails in Scotland, and these carefully managed long distance trails can be walked in many different ways:

*Some people walk the whole length over the course of a weekend or week, using the trail as a walking holiday.

*Some people share the goal of completing the full route but do so in more manageable little sections and eventually complete all parts over a few months or even years.

*Another option is to make a day trip out of walking just one part of a route and enjoy a great day of walking with your canine companions - friends and family welcome too!  You could choose a section of a trail to walk from A to B, arranging for a lift from a friend or using public transport to get back to your start point, alternatively you could plan a circular walk if the trail links in with other footpaths or you could just retrace your steps and enjoy the scenery from the other direction!

The National Trails website outlines the various trails and gives details of where you can find out more specific details from various trail officers.
